Larry Gene Vanderhoff
Age 75 of Elmira Heights, NY passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at home surrounded by family and friends. He was born August 6, 1949 in Elmira the son of the late Milton and Lora (Jones) Vanderhoff. In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by his brother Gerald Vanderhoff, and sister-in-law Catherine (Cookie) Vanderhoff.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Audrey C. Vanderhoff; his children Stacey (Jake) Oparil, Marty J. Vanderhoff (Linda), Sheila A. Washburn (Billy), Larry S. Vanderhoff. His legacy extends to his grandchildren Bryan, Eric, Kristin, Jenn, Steven, Emily, Katie, Kyle, and Alexis, as well as several great grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Yvonne (Frederick) Kepler and brother, Leslie (Buster) Vanderhoff, several nieces and nephews as well as his beloved rescue cat, Beulah. Larry was a great friend to many including the “garage crew”.
Larry was the owner of his very successful business, Larry Vanderhoff Construction, for 35 years.
Larry’s life and contributions will be remembered fondly by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Larry’s life was marked with having wisdom, strong work ethic, being kindhearted, having a sense of humor, an infectious smile, and a reputation as the best backhoe operator in the Twin Tiers. His humility and dedication shone through both in his personal and professional life.
Family and Friends are invited to visit Oakwood United Methodist Church, 210 Oakwood Ave, Elmira Heights, on Saturday, January 18th from 11am to1pm and 3 to 5 pm. His funeral service will be held there at 5:00 pm. Pastor Jim Ellis and Pastor Peter O’Neil will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Oakwood Methodist Church Organ Fund as Larry enjoyed playing his organ at home.
