Catherine Bevans Van Auken
Catherine Bevans was born in 1803, daughter of Evan Bevans and Catharine Carmer Bevans.
Catherine married Girard Abraham Van Auken, son of Nathaniel Van Auken and Maria Nancy Westbrook Van Auken. Catherine and G Abraham had seven children: John B (1825-1897), Mary (1830-1889), Abraham (1833-1843), Cornelia (1834), Sarah (1837), Emeline, and Jacob B.
Catherine most likely worked as house keeper, taking care of the children and possibly doing some of the general farm work along with her housework.
Catherine Bevans Van Auken died in 1840 at the young age of 37 and is buried with her husband at Delaware Cemetery in Dingman’s Ferry, Pike County, Pennsylvania.
