Hazel Pretoria Roe was born in about 1901, daughter of Walter Arlington Roe and Edith Irene Cogswell Roe.

On April 7, 1917, Hazel married Harry George Grey, son of Smith Grey and Maude Decker Grey. Hazel and Harry had one son, Arthur in about 1918. It can be assumed that Hazel was widowed at some point before 1920. She married second, Benjamin E Carmon, also a widower. Hazel and Benjamin had one son, Arthur, in about 1920.

According to the 1930 census, Hazel was living with her second husband, step-son, sone from her previous marriage as well as her niece Beatrice, daughter of Glenn Walter Roe.
