Katharine was born in New Jersey in September 1826.

On September 19, 1846, Katharine married Nicholas Bevans in Sussex County by Reverend H.B. Beegle. Nicholas and Katharine had 10 children all born in Sandyston; Mary (1847-1916), Elizabeth (1849-1920), Edmond (1850-1946), Allon (1851-1853), Martha (1853), Annie (1855-1934), Sarah (1857-1859), Francis Maria (1861), Sidney (1864), and Luella (1870-1935).

Katharine was a housekeeper, remaining at home with the children.

Obituary, Sussex Independent Friday June 29, 1900:

Age 74.3.- yrs; wife of Nicholas Bevans. Survived by seven children: Edward, Sidney, Fanny, Lizzie, Newton, Mrs Joseph VanBlarcom, Lafayette; Mrs. Beatty, Mrs. Sharpe[sic], Layton.

Katharine died in 1900 and is buried with her husband at Layton Cemetery in Sussex County, NJ. Her headstone is broken in half, but both pieces still remain.
